Guerrero, who wore the Peruvian armband in his bid for the 2018 World Cup, joined the club in Porto Alegre after three years with Flamengo.
The 34-year-old striker, who has played for Bayern Munich, Hamburg and Corinthians, missed most of the year after falling on a doping test.
He was suspended before the World Cup, and Guerrero took part in all the Peruvian matches.
The 34-year-old is due to arrive in Porto Alegre on Wednesday for the club's international headquarters, the club said in a statement.
This means that Internacional is the third Brazilian club to play for Guerrero, who has defended Corinthians during the 2012-2015 period, in which he led him to the 2012 FIFA World Cup at Chelsea's expense, and then moved to Flamingo in 2015- 2018.
